Wow, what a crazy weekend.
I started off by heading down to Trestles on Friday to catch some of the Body Glove Surfbout event. The surf was good - about head high. Unfortunately Wardo and Nate Yeomans were knocked out today, but Shaun Ward absolutely killed it in his heat - scoring a 9.57! I heard he ended up making it all the way to the finals on Sunday. Stoked!! Its always good to see a San Clemente local do well when the contest is at Trestles. Anyway, I'm sure you heard that CJ Hobgood ended up winning the contest. No doubt you and your new friends in Florida are gloating about it as you read this...
On Saturday I went up to Santa Barbara for the Surfrider Foundation's annual California Chapter conference. It was super cool. I got to meet activists from a bunch of different chapters, including San Diego, Malibu, Ventura, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, San Francisco and elsewhere. Sometimes people forget that virtually all the work that Surfrider Foundation accomplishes is done by volunteers. It's truly amazing!
Hope your having fun in Florida!
